Quickstart

Get a working Fiber API key in one command, straight from a terminal or an AI agent.

Quickstart

We built a one-command signup so you (or your agent) can go from nothing to a working API key with no card and no dashboard:

curl -fsSL https://api.fiber.ai/quickstart | bash

The script asks for your work email, emails you a one-time code, creates your trial organization, saves your API key, and confirms it works by printing your credit balance. The trial comes with 100 credits for 7 days; see Trials. Credit amounts are defaults — custom pricing is available for bulk use cases (Billing).

What it does

  1. Asks for a work email (plus your name and company) and emails you a one-time code.
  2. Verifies the code and creates your trial organization with a live API key (sk_live_…) and, usually, a sandbox key (sk_test_…) for testing without spending credits.
  3. Saves the key to $HOME/.config/fiber/credentials, readable only by you.
  4. Checks the key by fetching your credit balance.

Keys are shown once; they can't be retrieved later. If FIBER_API_KEY is already set to a valid key, the script skips signup and just confirms it.

Running it from an agent or CI

Pass options after bash -s -- to run without prompts:

curl -fsSL https://api.fiber.ai/quickstart | bash -s -- \
  --email jane@example.com --first-name Jane --last-name Doe \
  --company "Example Inc." --non-interactive --json
OptionWhat it does
--email, --first-name, --last-name, --companyFill in the signup details instead of being prompted
--otp CODE with --verification-id IDFinish signup with the emailed code (the ID comes from the first step's JSON)
--api-key-file PATHSave the key somewhere other than the default credentials file
--non-interactiveNever prompt; fail with a structured JSON error instead
--jsonPrint JSON on stdout (turned on automatically when an agent or CI is detected)

An agent runs it twice: once with the email to send the code, then again with --verification-id and --otp once it has the code.

Signing up over the API

The script calls two public operations, which you can call directly:

OperationWhat it doesReference
Send one-time codeStart a cardless trial by verifying a work emailaccountSendOtp
Verify one-time codeExchange the code for your trial keys and creditsaccountVerifyOtp

Both are free. Sending a code allows 6 requests per minute and verifying allows 12, per IP address.

If signup fails

StatusWhat happenedWhat to do
400The email isn't a work address (personal email providers aren't accepted), or the code is wrong, or the signup session wasn't foundUse your work email, or check the code
409A trial already exists for your company's domain, or this email is already registeredAsk a teammate to invite you, or sign in to the dashboard
410The code expired. Codes last 10 minutesRequest a new code (you can after 60 seconds)
429Too many attemptsWait and try again later

Every rejection includes a machine-readable reason alongside the message. A 503 message also starts with a short error code; quote it if you contact us.

Next steps

  • API keys: pass your key, cap its spending, and create more sandbox keys.
  • Trials: what the trial includes and how to keep going after it.
  • Build with Fiber: pick the SDK, MCP server, or plugin for your stack.
