Flights API

Search one-way, round-trip, and multi-city flights with live fares, open an itinerary for booking options, or find cheap deals from a departure city.

Flights API

We built flight search so an app or an agent can ask "what are the fares from New York to London on these dates?" and get live itineraries with prices, timing, and emissions back as JSON. Pick an itinerary to see where it can be booked, or ask for deals when you know where you're leaving from but not where you're going.

Every call is synchronous and live: fares are fetched when you ask.

What it does

  1. Search flights for a one-way, round-trip, or multi-city trip, with filters for cabin, stops, airlines, bags, price, duration, and times.
  2. Get booking options for one itinerary: the providers selling it, their fares, booking links, and cabin classes.
  3. Find deals: cheap round trips from a departure city, ranked by how much cheaper they are than usual.

Describe the trip in trip:

flightTypeFields
one_waydepartureAirports, arrivalAirports, outboundDate
round_tripthe same, plus returnDate
multi_citysegments: 2 to 5 legs, each with its own airports and date
{
  "apiKey": "sk_live_...",
  "trip": {
    "flightType": "round_trip",
    "departureAirports": "X-NYC",
    "arrivalAirports": "LHR",
    "outboundDate": "2027-03-10",
    "returnDate": "2027-03-17"
  },
  "travelClass": "business",
  "adults": 2,
  "maxStops": 1,
  "sortBy": "price"
}

Airports can be a 3-letter IATA code (JFK), a comma-separated list (JFK,LGA,EWR), or a metro alias that covers every airport in a city, like X-NYC. The flight regions list returns every alias.

Filters and options:

  • travelClass: economy, premiumEconomy, business, or first
  • Passengers: adults, children, infantsInSeat, infantsOnLap
  • maxStops, layoverDuration, connectingAirports, maxFlightDurationMinutes
  • airlines: include or exclude by 2-letter airline code (UA, DL, B6)
  • minCarryOnBags, minCheckedBags, maxPrice
  • Departure and arrival hour windows
  • onlyShowLowEmissionFlights, hideSeparateTickets
  • sortBy: top, price, departureTime, arrivalTime, duration, or emissions
  • currencyCode (default USD), searchMarketCountryCode (default USA, sets regional pricing), languageCode (default en)

What comes back: bestFlights and otherFlights (each itinerary with legs, times, airlines, price, duration, and a bookingToken), priceInsights for the route, the airports involved, and a nextPageToken when there's more.

Booking options

Pass an itinerary's bookingToken with the same trip you searched, and we return who sells it: providers, their fares, booking links, and the cabin classes available. We don't complete bookings; the links take your user to the seller.

Deals

Send a single departure (one airport or a metro alias like X-NYC) and we return cheap round trips from there, each with its destination, dates, and how much cheaper it is than usual. Use it for "where can I go cheaply?"; use search when you already know the route.

Using it effectively

  • Search a metro, not one airport. X-NYC or X-LONDON covers every airport in the city, so you don't miss a cheaper fare from the next one over.
  • Use the same trip for booking options that you searched with, or the fares won't line up.
  • Monitor fares on a sensible cadence. Each search is a paid live lookup; re-check a route daily, not every minute.
  • Set the market. searchMarketCountryCode changes regional pricing, so set it to where your user is buying.
