Audiences

Build a saved list of companies and the people at them from search filters, enrich it with contact details, and export it — all over the API.

Audiences

An audience is a saved list of companies and the people who work at them, built from your search filters. Everything you can do with audiences in the dashboard also works over the API: create one, set its filters, build it, enrich it with contact details, read it back page by page, and export it to CSV.

Use an audience instead of paging through search yourself when you want a list you can come back to, enrich in one step, and export for your team.

How it works

  1. Create an audience. It starts in DRAFT. Creating one is free.
  2. Set its filters: company filters (industry, headcount, location…) and prospect filters (job title, seniority, location…), using the same filters as company and people search.
  3. Build it. We run the searches in the background and save every matching company and prospect. The status moves DRAFT → BUILDING → NORMAL (ready), or FAILED if the build didn't complete. You may see other in-progress values between BUILDING and NORMAL; treat anything that isn't NORMAL or FAILED as still working and keep polling.
  4. Read it: page through its companies and prospects, or check its counts.
  5. Enrich it: reveal work and personal emails and phones for its prospects, and refresh company and profile data. Estimate the cost first.
  6. Export companies or prospects to CSV.

Filters can only change while an audience is in DRAFT. To change a built audience, create a new one.

How many companies are on my audience?

Each audience reports its size directly:

  • The audience status returns companiesCount and prospectsCount, plus when the build started and finished.
  • Listing your audiences returns every audience with its status, companiesCount, and prospectsCount, and a totalCount of audiences.
  • Reading companies or prospects returns a totalCount alongside each page.

Reading an audience

Companies come back with name, LinkedIn URL, domain, industry, and headcount; prospects with name, LinkedIn URL, job title, company, and location. Pages hold up to 500 records (default 100). Pass the returned nextCursor to get the next page; hasMore tells you when to stop.

Enriching an audience

Enrichment adds contact details and fresh data to the prospects you've built:

OptionDefaultWhat it does
enrichmentType—Which contacts to reveal: work email, personal email, phone
maxProspectsToEnrich—A cap on how many prospects to enrich
runContactEnrichmenttrueReveal emails and phones
runCompanyLiveEnrichmenttrueRefresh company data
runProfileLiveEnrichmenttrueRefresh profile data
runProfileSalesNavtrueInclude Sales Navigator profile enrichment
userEmail—Where to email a summary when it's done

Estimate before you enrich. The enrichment cost estimate takes the same options and returns the credits the run would cost, with a breakdown, for free. Enrichment is charged up front from that estimate when it starts; poll its status for progress (progressPercent, current step, steps remaining).

Exporting

Export companies or prospects to CSV. Exports run in the background: the CSV links come back in the response, or go to userEmail if you pass one.

  • Each export is capped at your remaining export quota for the usage period and at most 1,000,000 rows. Large exports are split across several files. The response's maxRowsAllowed tells you the cap that applied.
  • Set maxRowsToExport to cap it lower, and excludeFields to drop columns.
  • For prospects, onlyWithContacts: true exports only people with a verified email or phone.
  • Exports are free but count toward your plan's export quota for the period.

Rate limits per minute: create, build, and enrich 30; reads, filter updates, exports, and delete 120.

Webhooks fire when a build, enrichment, or export finishes (audience.build_completed, audience.enrichment_completed, audience.prospect_export_completed, audience.company_export_completed). See Webhooks.

Deleting an audience archives it: it disappears from your lists, and its data and enrichment history are kept. An audience that's still building can't be deleted.

Using it effectively

  • Size it before you build. Run the same filters through the count endpoints to see how big the audience will be.
  • Estimate before every enrichment, and cap it with maxProspectsToEnrich on your first run.
  • Keep companies out with exclusion lists. In the dashboard, apply your exclusion lists through the Exclusions filter so customers and existing pipeline don't land in the audience.
  • Use webhooks for long builds instead of polling status in a loop.
