Talent flow

See where a company hires from and where its people go, by company, school, region, seniority, and function, over any time window.

Talent flow

Talent flow shows who a company hires from and who it loses people to. Pick a company and a time window; we look at everyone who joined (or left) in that window and tell you which companies they came from (or went to), plus the schools, countries, metros, seniority, functions, and experience behind the movement.

It's how you find a prospect's real competitors for talent, spot a company that's losing its engineers, or see which startups are pulling people out of a big employer.

Two views

ViewAnswersWhat you get
Talent flow (joiners or leavers)"Where does Stripe hire from?" or "Where do Stripe alumni go?"A full report for one direction: source or destination companies, plus breakdowns by seniority, job function, country, metro, school, and years of experience
Talent flow rivals"Who trades people with Stripe, in both directions?"Head-to-head: for each top company, how many people it sent to and took from the company you chose

Inputs

Both views take the company and a date window:

{
  "apiKey": "sk_live_...",
  "company": { "identifier": "domain", "value": "stripe.com" },
  "direction": "joiners",
  "dateRange": { "lowerBound": "2025-01-01", "upperBound": "2025-12-31" }
}
  • company: identifier is linkedinUrl, linkedinSlug, linkedinOrgId, or domain.
  • direction (talent flow only): joiners looks at people who started at the company in the window and reports where they came from; leavers looks at people who left and reports where they went.
  • dateRange: set lowerBound and/or upperBound as YYYY-MM-DD; leave both null for all time.
  • numCompaniesPerSide (rivals only): how many source and destination companies to return, 1–50 (default 10).

What comes back

Talent flow returns peopleCount (how many people moved in the window), the companies they came from or went to with a count and percentage each (and funding stage, total funding, and valuation where we have them), and breakdowns by seniority, job function, country, metro, school, and years of experience. A ready-to-read markdownSummary is included for dropping into a note or an agent's answer.

Rivals returns how many people joined and left in the window, and for each top company, the flow in both directions.

Reports are aggregates: counts and percentages, not lists of people. To reach the people behind a number, run a people search on the same companies and window.

Each report analyzes up to 10,000 people (per direction, for rivals). Both are synchronous but can take a while on large companies: set a client timeout of 2 minutes for talent flow and 4 minutes for rivals. Each allows 30 requests per minute.

Using it effectively

  • Pick a window that matches the question. The last 12 months shows current hiring; a multi-year window shows long-run patterns.
  • Use leavers for prospecting. Where a company's people go tells you who is winning them over, and those companies are often in-market for the same tools.
  • Use rivals for competitive maps. It turns "who are their competitors?" into numbers you can rank.
  • Watch it continuously with Tracker. Instead of re-running reports, Tracker alerts you to headcount and hiring changes.
