Reference lists

Free lists of every valid value for search filters — industries, NAICS codes, regions, metros, skills, technologies, tags, languages, and more.

Reference lists

Search filters only match exact values: "Computer Software" isn't an industry we use, and a misspelled metro matches nothing. We publish every valid value as a free reference list, so you can build pickers, validate input, and map your own categories before you search.

Tips

  • Fetch once, cache, refresh occasionally. The lists change slowly; load them at startup or daily rather than per search.
  • Validate before you search. Check user input against the list so a typo becomes a suggestion instead of a silent zero-result search.
  • Use typeaheads for free-text input. When users type company names, locations, titles, or skills, typeaheads resolve them to valid values as they type.
  • Map your own taxonomy once. Translating another provider's industries or departments? See migrating from other providers.

Rate limits

Reference lists allow 120 requests per minute (subdivisions 250, technologies 50). Since they're free and cacheable, you'll rarely come close.
